To start our exciting year in L1 we will be asking 'Who lives in a house like this?'. We will explore this topic through a range of beautiful stories including:
The 3 little pigs; learning and reciting the story, counting the houses and how many steps the wolf has to take. Building houses in a range of materials, planting herbs for the 3 little pigs to eat and panting pigs.
The Gruffalo; Learning about habitats of different animals, exploring and describing characters from the story and sensory play of taking a walk through the 'deep dark wood'.
Handas' Surprise; making our own mud house, looking at cultural differences and exploring the story through drama.
As well as looking at our very own houses in a non fiction text.
We will begin our topic with a local walk to see the houses in the schools local area.
We will learn through continuous provision which will allow our class to learn through play and to work on skills such as collaborative play, speaking and listing and our motor skills. As well as working with adults to support our reading, writing, maths, science, PSHE, RE, music and ICT skills.
