Our topic for this term is Amazing Beasts
In U1 this half term, we will be reading 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them' as a stimulus for our creative project of designing our own beasts and turning them into animated films. As parents/carers of pupils in U1 will know, we have a title for each week’s learning that links to the gaming board in our classroom. The titles for this half term are:
- The 1920's and All That Jazz! – During this week we will listen to and appraise jazz music, look at the culture of the jazz movement and write chronological lists of important events that happened in the 1920s.
- Votes for Women! – During this week we will watch the ‘Suffragette’ film and debate equality using P4C (philosophy for children) and drama situations.
- Prohibition... welcome to the speakeasy! – During this week we will have a ‘party’. Mrs Windle and Mr Askham will have said we can’t have a party but we’re going to do it anyway but mustn’t let either of them know about it!
- Creative Media Production - Over 2 weeks, pupils will collaborate in pairs to create fact files, animation films, advertising posters, newspaper/magazine reports and advertising/information flyers about their ‘Fantastic Beasts’.
