Topic Description - Spring 2 2019
It’s probably the most famous date in English history . . . we’re travelling back to 1066!
This half term, we will be looking closely at the battle of Hastings, using the famous Bayeux Tapestry to explore the significant events of 1066. What happened when, and how did William come to be called the Conqueror? We will be visiting the Royal Armouries in Leeds to look closely at the battle, participating in a range of activities in which students will gain a better understanding of the Norman Conquest, which resulted in battle of Hastings. Pupils will be involved in a Norman workshop and have the chance to look around the museum’s various exhibitions.
These are troubled times and there is danger afoot. A much loved king is dead and a French Duke has staked a claim to our Kingdom; are you ready for the Norman invasion? Then grab your armour and prepare for battle!
