Topic Description - Summer 2 2019
This term our exciting new topic is ‘Darwin’s Delights.’
Ship ahoy! We will be voyaging on the HMS beagle over vast oceans to unravel the mysteries of evolution.
In Literacy we will be reading ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom.’ We will describe settings, characters and atmosphere, and we will learn to use a range of devices to build cohesion within and across paragraphs.
In Science we will be investigating environment, inheritance and evolution.
We will emulate the amazing sketch books created by Darwin, in Art, using observation skills to add fine detail to natural history drawings.
In Geography we will plot the route Darwin took on HMS Beagle and discuss places he visited; including finding them on maps and discussing their physical features.
In history we will consider who Charles Darwin was and why was he so important?
In computing we will use morphing software to create a simple animation that shows the evolution of ‘humans’.
In math we will continue to develop our understanding of number from concrete to abstract ideas and in PE we will continue to work towards our Youth Sports Trust accreditation.
