In English, we kick start the year by studying William Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth. Pupils will gain an in depth understanding of the play and develop their critical and analytical skills to understand how language, form, structure and context can create meanings and effects.
In maths we will gain confidence and fluency in mathematics and demonstrate mathematical knowledge and skills in the three different areas of mathematics; number and the number system; common measures, shape and space; and information and data. We will apply our skills and knowledge through mathematical problems, life skills and cross curricular projects.
And in Science, students will be working towards their Entry Level qualification, commencing with a Biology module focused on the human body. Students will learn about the concepts of human anatomy, the vital organs and the systems that carry out all of the key processes of life. They will also learn about the importance of maintaining a healthy body through a balanced diet, exercise and a healthy lifestyle, as well as how health can be damaged by microbes, which can cause infectious diseases.
