It's time to celebrate!

This half term, our topic is Rio de Vida and we'll be trying to answer the question, 'why do we celebrate?'.

Throughout this topic, we'll be learning all about the Rio carnivals and finding out why they take place and what wonderful things happen during the carnivals. We will be writing about what we discover in a variety of ways including explanation texts, stories and poetry.

We will be developing our geographical knowledge by exploring the location of the continents and major oceans and making comparisons between Brazil and where we live. In science, we will be investigating the properties of materials and will apply this knowledge to our art lessons where we will be creating a large, multi-media image of a carnival dancer.

By the end of the topic, we will celebrate an incredible learning journey and a fantastic school year!
